FAQ

Q: How long is the typical bostonstreetcars.com Tour?
For each tour on the "Descriptions of Tours" page, it says how long each particular tour will take. Times vary between the tours.
Q: Are private/group tours available?
Yes, per request. Please call 617-935-1906 or email info@bostonstreetcars.com so that we can discuss itinerary, scheduling and pricing options for your private or group tour.
Q: What is the best way to get to and from a bostonstreetcars.com Tour?
Take the MBTA. Driving and parking in Boston are both hassles, and you are much better off taking an MBTA train or bus into town. All bostonstreetcars.com Tours conveniently start and end at or nearby MBTA stations, so it will be much easier to find the tour than to park and then walk around in search of the group, not to mention that some tours will not end exactly where they started, though they will end by an MBTA station, making it much easier not to be dependent upon returning to a parked car at the end of the tour.
Q: What if I RSVP'd but suddenly can't make it?
You must e-mail info@bostonstreetcars.com or call 617-935-1906 and let me know ASAP.  There are a limited number of spots for each tour, and if you can't make it your spot will be opened up to other interested guests. If you do not show up to the tour and fail to notify me beforehand, you will be held accountable and will be charged a $15 missed tour fee per adult.
Q: What if it rains?
We are a summer operation, so luckily we don't have to worry about nor'easters. That being said, it may rain and there may be electrical storms. As long as conditions aren't dangerous, tours will be held as scheduled. If weather conditions deem holding a tour unsafe, I will notify all registered participants ASAP and the tour will be rescheduled. All participants in the cancelled tour will receive first priority for spots in the rescheduled tour.
Q: Are children welcome?
Yes. You are welcome to bring children on tours. Bear in mind that we will be doing a lot of walking, but as long as your kids are up for the walk and interes
Q: Why do I need to provide my e-mail address and cell phone number?
So that I can be in touch with you in case the tour is rescheduled, or if we run into complications when assembling the group before the tour starts.
Q: If I want to participate in a bike tour but do not own a bike in Boston, how can I get a bike?
Bike tours are strategically planned to start and end at or nearby Hubway bike rental stations, which are located all over Boston, where bikes can be rented at very affordable rates (typically $15 for an entire tour). More information on Hubway is available at thehubway.com. Please note that you must be wearing a helmet during a bike tour; I have helmets available for rent for $10 per helmet.
Q: I like to bike slow and on the side streets, will I be able to keep up with a bike tour?
You can rest assured that bostonstreetcars.com Bike Tours are not bike races, and we will make sure that every participant can keep up. However, most bike tours are based on major city streets with dedicated bike lanes, meaning that there will be some negotiation of traffic along the way. For bikers who prefer to stay off of the streets, I recommend "Highways That Never Happened," in which we will remain on the Southwest Corridor dedicated bike path for the entire duration of the tour.
